Recent Auction Finds

I have become completely addicted to the auction. Here are some finds over the past few weeks.
The old photographs are just a small sampling of the 52 pictures I got for $10.

There are several colored portraits that amaze me. I think I will frame some for my own walls.

I really love this one. Something about her look.

She looks like a fun girl!

I do love faces.

Yard Work should lead to a Photo Lesson

As I was out picking up walnuts in the backyard, I found these pretty little cherries. I haven't pulled out my good camera in months and they inspired me to take some photos.

Vintage photos...I have no shortage of them

This week at Take A Word it's all vintage! At least 90 percent of what I make is using something vintage, usually from my family. This week I had pulled out some old photos when cleaning up my craft room and found a spiral bound book of black and whites.  It would appear that my Great Grandma ( or someone...have to check with my mom) was pretty proud of a new TV set. The back of the picture says March 1956.
I transfered it onto fabric and made this needle case for my new love of embroidery.

Also, I had to include a couple others from the book; the dining room and their car parked out on its Pittsburgh, PA street.

A Great Way to Finish the Year

A wonderful New Year's Eve...a little nature walk on a rare sunny day in the Pacific Northwest...

The ocean making use of our irresponsibility

These colors and textures are already inspiring a quilt in my mind

 ...finished my Sketchbook!!

And my husband and I found some great things at the antique store to alter and use in my mixed media. He really scored when he found these keys for me!  I also love this little clip on Christmas tree candle- oooh, I already see it in a shrine!
Happy New Year Everyone!
