Silk Cocoon Books

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Today is a sunny day in the Northwest....the sun is motivating me to get to crafting! A good time to felt outside with the birds. Also, I am making some more silk cocoon books. Back in December I started some and loved how they turned out (Here's one).  I considered submiting them to a magazine, but I decided to put them in my Etsy shop instead. It has only been a day and they are already a hit! One sold and the rest have gotten a lot of attention! This makes me happy! It's a whole other world for me to put things in my shop as opposed to my blog. I also get nervous when something does sell- I hope they like it as much as me. So far, it's going pretty well, and I'm still having fun with it.

Here a couple others I hadn't posted on my blog before and are now in the shop.

Relish the moment!

Dance every evening.

Have a great weekend!

Continuing the cocoon journey

I have been working on more of the tiny silk cocoon books. You may have seen the first one a while ago, but if not, it's here. I started painting some with watercolors and adding some beading. I wanted to share just one more.
One of my goals, for quite some time, has been to submit a project to one of my favorite magazines. I decided to submit these little books and see what happens. Okay, I haven't submitted it yet, but I have set a goal to do so in the next couple weeks. Wish me luck.

This one is " She was submerged in blissful oblivion."

not as delicate as it seems...

I have added some beads and a button as a closure.
I have to just look at it for a few days. I'm not sure I like this bright button. I need to find a small natural colored one. I'd like the beads to be the only bold color.

They look really delicate, don't they? I was surprised at how strong they really are. To do the stitching I had to poke holes with an awl first. Every time I add something I think I'm going to break it or dent it in, but even with my clumsy hands it holds up.

In case you missed the first post, the content reads
" We all contain beautiful and delicate art."

Exploring silk cocoons

I ordered some silk cocoons at Mud Hollow on Etsy recently. I had some different ideas for ways to work with them. One of those ideas was to make a tiny book.  It is coming along....I did some embroidery around the edge and added some pages.
The book reads "We all contain beautiful and delicate art."

I had to take a break from working with such a small thing. I will post the finished book soon though.
